As electronic devices are becoming sophisticated, demands for lower energy loss during electricity transmission are pressing, prompting voltage elevation. This trend leads to a rapid shift from traditional silicon-based power transistors to wide-bandgap (WBG) materials, Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Gallium Nitride (GaN), to improve energy conversion efficiency. Ancora, a subsidiary of Delta, has dedicated itself to GaN technology development for over a decade. Backed by strategic collaboration with customers, Ancora successfully rolls out high-efficiency, ultra-compact GaN solutions for various applications.
GaN on Server PSUs: the Power of AI Revolution
One of Ancora’s strategic battlegrounds is the AI server sector. Driven by the significantly higher power demand of AI data centers, AI servers consume more power than conventional ones, making high-frequency GaN components essential for maximizing power density and operational reliability.
Currently, Ancora has designed the GaN solutions targeting 1kW and 2.4kW CRPS (Common Redundant Power Supplies) through advanced packaging and circuit integration. The 1kW model, for instance, features Ancora’s GaN FETs that are integrated into the AC-DC Totem-Pole PFC and the DC-DC half-bridge LLC converters. These GaN FETs effectively mitigate GaN’s high-frequency interference and boost power density, ensuring uninterruptible, highly efficient electricity delivery.

GaN on Client Devices: Explore Niche Market
Currently, the client device market is the most successful application for GaN commercialization, and Ancora focuses on high-end power adapters, LED drivers, telecom power, and gaming PSUs. A compelling example is the newly launched 1,600W gaming power supply, which integrates Ancora’s GaN components to its full-bridge LLC resonant converter. Moving forward, Ancora will continue to collaborate with Delta teams to explore potential business opportunities in the client device market.
GaN on EV: The Long-Term Battleground
The electric vehicle (EV) market represents huge opportunities for Ancora. Currently, 400 VDC remains the mainstream power architecture for EVs., and GaN is increasingly being adopted in onboard chargers (OBC) and DC-DC converters, enabling lighter, more compact, higher-density, and high-frequency power solutions to meet the evolving demands of electric vehicles. As the safety regulations for electric vehicles are exceptionally stringent, breaking into this market requires substantial technical capabilities and R&D capacity, which are precisely Ancora's core strengths. Hence the Delta subsidiary establishes close partnerships with major automotive clients to co-develop onboard chargers and DC-DC converters, ensuring its GaN components align with clients’ stringent OEM standards. Looking ahead, Ancora observes the trend of 800 VDC architectures and is proactively developing next-gen GaN solutions to capture early market share as the high-voltage EV market matures.
Looking ahead, Ancora is committed to developing more advanced GaN components to enhance power conversion efficiency for the three target markets mentioned while developing more applications in industrial sectors and renewable energy infrastructures.
